About The
Event
The Michelin GT Challenge places IMSA’s GT classes at the center of the weekend on Virginia International Raceway’s demanding full course. VIR combines high-speed direction changes, significant elevation and limited runoff across 3.27 miles of natural-terrain road course. The uphill Esses reward commitment, while Oak Tree Turn and the long back straight create important opportunities to gain position. The GT-only format keeps the focus on closely matched production-based machinery and makes this event one of the clearest showcases of GT racing on the IMSA calendar.

Arrive near VIR
Arrive one day before track activity begins. The circuit is located in a rural setting, so an early arrival allows for a relaxed start to the weekend.
Opening Practice
Begin with practice sessions for the weekend’s supporting championships before the WeatherTech Championship field makes its first appearance. Watch the cars build speed through the uphill Esses and prepare for the GT-focused feature race.
Final Practice, Support Race and Qualifying
Saturday includes the final WeatherTech Championship practice, multiple support races and qualifying for the Michelin GT Challenge. The concentrated qualifying session highlights the precision required around VIR’s fast and unforgiving layout.
Michelin GT Challenge
Arrive early for morning support racing and the build-up to the main event. The two-hour and 40-minute Michelin GT Challenge provides an uninterrupted showcase of GT racing across VIR’s full course. Stay after the checkered flag for the podium celebration, followed by the final support race of the weekend
