GT World Sonoma opens the 2027 championship on one of North America’s most technical road courses. Sonoma Raceway’s 12-turn layout follows the natural contours of the surrounding hills, creating substantial elevation changes, blind crests, off-camber corners, and very little room for error.
The circuit’s compact design keeps the cars in view while demanding precision throughout the three-hour race. A mistake through one sequence can compromise several corners that follow, making qualifying and consistent execution especially important. As the first race of the season, Sonoma provides the first opportunity to see the year’s new cars, liveries, driver combinations, and championship contenders in competition.
